Town Hall city of Fairfield waste compliance

Town Hall city of Fairfield waste compliance

In an ongoing effort to fight climate change, California is focusing its efforts on reducing organic waste deposited into landfills. Senate Bill 1383 was signed into law in September 2016 and requires statewide reductions of organic waste going to the landfills by mandating that these materials be composted and that edible food be donated wherever possible.

The City will be launching a “Fairfield Goes Green” campaign over the next two months to educate and inform the public about the importance of organic waste recycling as all residents, businesses, and multifamily housing complexes will be required to comply starting January 1, 2022. To effectively tailor messaging, the City is asking everyone to fill out a brief survey at www.fairfield.ca.gov/green.

To kick-off the campaign, the City of Fairfield and Republic Services will host two town hall meetings, one for business owners and one for multifamily housing property managers on November 1 and 8 respectively🗓️

🕙 They will be held from 5:30 - 7:30 pm
📍 In the Council Chamber at 1000 Webster St.

📌 These meetings are open to the public and will provide education, resources, and an open forum for questions.
